Elf Cosmetics Prism Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing well! I decided that today was going to be another eyeshadow palette review, since I got the impression that you quite liked the one I did last time with the ebay palette. So I just wanted to start by saying thank you for showing so much love on that post. Today’s review will be on the “Prism Eyeshadow Palette” by Elf Cosmetics in the shade “Sunset”. The majority of you know this brand already, but to those who aren’t familiar with the brand, it’s a cruelty-free, affordable/drugstore makeup brand, who’s recently also ventured into creating some skincare items as well. Their US site does ship worldwide, though with a few exclusions.

Range: There are 3 different shades to choose from in the prism eyeshadow range. “Naked”, “Sunset” & “Smoke”. Sunset is by far my favorite out of the bunch, as I personally find the shades to be more appealing, and are shades I would like to add to my makeup collection.

Ingredients: Dimethicone, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Magnesium Stearate, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Polyethylene, Nylon-12, Polyisobutene, Bismuth Oxychloride, Methylparaben, Propylparaben May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxide (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Red 40 Lake (CI 16035), Yellow 5 Lake (CI 19140), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Ultramarines (CI 77007), Chromium Hydroxide Green (CI 77289), Blue 1 Lake (CI 42090).

Weight & Price: The palette weighs 12g/0.42 oz. and costs 150 DKK/10 USD. Price will vary depending on where you live.

Packaging: I really like the packaging. It’s thin and sleek, which makes it easy to store or travel with. The palette is a black elongated, sturdy plastic case. It has mirror on the inside, and one of those dual ended spongy applicators as well.

Consistency: The shadows are quite soft, and there was not as much fall out, as I had expected. Elf claims the shadows can be used wet & dry. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to try them wet.  The pigmentation is really good as well, it left me kind of shocked! One light swipe, and I have pigmentation for days. Okay not really, but you get what I mean. The pigment was real!

Shades: *This a full on shimmer palette*

  • White, pearly shade. This was one shade; I didn’t like as much as the others. For some reason the shimmers in this were a bit chunkier then the others.
  • Pink, Rosy shade.
  • Champagne, Rose Gold shade. (Probably my favorite of them all).
  • 24 K Gold shade.
  • Brown, Mauve-ish shade.
  • And finally we have a simple, but pretty, purple shade.

Final Thoughts: I was highly impressed with this palette. When I first opened it up, I wasn’t too happy to see all shimmer shades, but the color scheme, and the way they looked blended together had me convinced. I got the best result by applying with my fingers, but the results with brushes were okay as well. There is a tiny bit of fall out when using this palette, but since I always do my eyes first, I can dust it right off.

Hope you enjoyed this review.

  1. We have such a limited selection here, and what we have never looks this nice, I’m totally gobsmacked at the intensity and the gorgeous colours!! I should see if the postage is worth me doing a massive elf haul 👌🏼👌🏼

    1. I’m still surprised that there isn’t any AU site :/ If you decide to buy elf products, doing a big haul would be the smartest if the shipping is expensive. I hate when shipping prices are ridiculously high. I always add things to the my cart, and when I see the shipping price I will leave my entire basket hahaha

  2. I’ve heard great things about elf, and I really appreciate that they are cruelty free! This palette looks really good actually I loved the rose gold as well! And I also like the one before it, I think they go well together! Maybe I’ll try this palette as my first elf product! Anyway, I like your reviews they are short but informative! 💞💗💞💗

    1. I have several elf products in my collection, some of them I really love, and some of them haven’t been the best :/ I would never pick a shimmer based palette myself, but this one I’ve fallen in love with! Thank you for supporting me, Babe ❤

  3. The pink shade would work great as a blusher too, I think. (Tell me that I’m crazy to even think that)
These shades are very vibrant and bright too. I’m definitely getting this if I ever come across it online or in stores. 😍Love the review.

    1. No, that’s not crazy at all! I wouldn’t be surprised to learn if eyeshadows and blushes contain the same ingredients. I’ll try using it as a blush 😀 Love how colorful the shadows are without being too much. Thank you for always showing love ❤
