Do you ever have those days when you feel like getting an overview of all your stuff in your warderobe as well as drawers? I had one of those days last weekend where I cleaned up my closet, as well as my beauty inventory. I came across several products that I needed to get rid of but haven’t. I hate throwing stuff out which also leads me to cling on to too many unnecessary products. I’ve collected a bag of products that I’m getting rid of either in the trash can or giving to someone else.
E.L.F. Matte Lip Colour: I really enjoy these! They’re very affordable, they’re matte and also comfortable to wear. The only reason I don’t want these are the shades. I’ve seen them look so pretty on others, but on myself I hate them and don’t see myself wearing these ever. These are in the shades “Tea Rose” and “Coral”.
W7 Mega Matte Lips: This is again a very comfortable formula, maybe one of the most comfortable formulas I’ve tried. I also enjoy the shade “Two Bob” very much, which is a nude, slightly brown color. It doesn’t last at all once you start eating or drinking, but besides that I enjoy it. I’ve had this for a bit too long, and it doesn’t apply as smoothly as it did in the beginning, so this is going in the bin.
L.A Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss: I’m so sad over this product. The shade “Fleur” is amazingly beautiful, which I would describe as a warm, terracotta shade. The applicator also makes it easier to get a precise application, but damn the formula is horrible. The formula is opaque and dries down matte, which is amazing. But it feels so sticky and feels like I’ve put glue on my lips, and it also form small clumps and looks so flaky. Extremely disappointed in this.
E.L.F. Mineral Lipstick: Nothing wrong with the formula. Glides on easily with a satin finish, and the staying power is decent. But again, I don’t like the look of this shade on my lips. The same thing goes with the Mary Kay lipstick (PR Gifted), the formula is nice, but I would never personally wear that color.
Eyeshadows, Eyebrows & Eyes
The Jane Hellen Single Eyeshadows are quite okay, which I believe is a Swedish brand. But seriously I got these when I was in elementary school, and I think it’s time to throw them out. E.L.F. Eyeshadow Duo: The same thing again – Had this for way too long and I don’t use it, so that’s why I’ll be throwing it out. The Mary Kay eyeshadow (PR Gifted) is not my style at all, I only see myself using 1/3 of it which is the pink shade. I’ve used it once and haven’t touched it since, so I know I won’t be using it in the future.
I have two browgels that I’m throwing out – I like the Tecnic one in the brown tube, but it’s starting to dry out. The Astor one is just useless and does nothing for my brows. Elf eyeliner is not that great, it fades quickly and gets patchy. The eyelid primer is okay at creating a base, but doesn’t extend the weartime. The W7 mascara was okay, but a bit too wet for my liking. Elf eyebrow kit I adore! I’ve used the entire wax part, and an okay portion of the powder, but I’ve had this for a very long time. So, I got a new one, and I’m going to throw this one out.
W7 Go Concealer: The concealer was very dense, and also dry. As a undereye concealer it was too drying, and I couldn’t use it for blemishes since it would cover that well. There are so many better concealers out there than this. The W7 Catwalk Concealer is actually quite okay, they have an okay range of shades. This is the medium one, which is too orange. I’ve used quite a bit, but I have so many better concealers that makes not want to reach for this.
H&M Bronzer & MUA Academy Bronzer: The H&M one I’ve had for an eternity, and I’m just not using it. So I don’t see a point in keeping it around. The same goes for the MUA bronzer.
W7 Contour Stick: I was so excited to try this, but it failed me. The highlighter side makes you look quite ashy, and the contour side barely shows up on my skin. When I try to blend the product it disappears and it looks like I haven’t applied any. Nope, not keeping this one.
Essence Mousse Foundation: I got the wrong shade, so I can’t even wear this in public. But the formula is horrendous as well. It accentuates every pore and never really sets. Makes my skin look cakey and horrible.
Beauty Blender: I love this sponge so much, but there’s a few small holes in it, so I’m not keeping it. I’ve had this for quite some time now, so it’s time to get a new sponge.
Technic Primer Spray: This spray is so aggressive and even the product on the inside is not that great. It has a very strong scent, which I find quite unpleasant. The spray does nothing for me.
Clear Zit Spottreatment: The biggest issue I have with this product is that it never dries. I can apply it 2 hours before going to bed, but it still wouldn’t be dry. It’s not effective either so there’s no reason to keep this around any longer.
Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask: It doesn’t work well as a cleanser or a mask. They added mint to this, which gives a cooling effect and might trick you to think it’s working. But for me it’s useless. It’s very pasty and doesn’t cleanse my skin at all. I’ll be giving this one away for sure.
I won’t be going into each polish, but I will say the reason why I’m throwing these out are either A) the bottle is half empty and the brush doesn’t pick up the product well. B) The formula has become dry and won’t apply smoothly. C) I don’t wear the shade and probably never will, so instead I’m giving it to someone who will like it more than me. I don’t enjoy the formula of all of these, but the ones I really enjoy is the Essence, Rimmel and OPI ones. The others were very average or bad to me. Oh and then I have some random leopard nail stickers that I’m giving away as well.
I’m definitely going to look my in drawers more often and get rid of products I don’t use. It does take some time, since you had to look through everything, but getting rid of those products was quite satisfying, and I know someone can benefit from them.
