Nivea is a brand that has been around for ages now. I remember growing up how my mum would use their products, and here I am still using their products. They came out with an “Urban Skin” range that includes different skincare products. The line was developed for those who live in the city. I live in the city myself and thought that it was a fun thought behind their new skincare line. The city life can take its toll on our skin, and Nivea created this line that will help protect against external influences, pollution and sunlight. For this post I will be reviewing their day and night cream along with a mask.
The moisturizer comes in a squared, white, cardboard box. The cream itself is in a plastic jar, that has a white, screw off lid with the brand engraved in the top. Both of the moisturizers are 50 ml each and are suitable for all skintypes. Every time I open the jar I just have it to smell it before applying. It has a fresh, green tea scent with an cucumber undertone. It’s a light green, gel moisturizer, which feels light on the skin. It glides on very easily on to the skin and absorbs quickly. The cream contains green tea extract and antioxidants.
The light, gel consistency is also perfect for me, as I often layer my skincare products in the morning and hate waiting for each product to absorb. I do feel it makes me look a bit shiny in my T-zone, but I don’t feel oily at all when wearing it. When brands add SPF to their moisturizer they get a big plus in my book. I always wear sunscreen or some sort of SPF product, and with this I just wear it and go as it already has SPF20. I don’t know if the claims of 48 hr. moisture boost is true or not, as I never go that long without cleansing. But for the hours I do wear it, my skin feels moisturized without the heavy feeling.

The night moisturizer also comes in cardboard box, and when you open in it you find the moisturizer jar inside. I also forgot to mention that the moisturizers are sealed with plastic that you peel off. The jar has a green colour to the bottom and a blue lid that you screw off. The consistency of this moisturizer is very similar to the day time one. It also has a gel consistency, but slightly thicker.
The scents also have similarities, but this is one has a calmness to it while still being very fresh. I prefer something more heavy duty during the evening, so on some nights I like to mix in a few drops of oil which adds the perfect touch. It contains green tea extract, antioxidants and hyaluronic acid. I also find it gives my skin a nice, cooling feeling and I already know I will love it during the warm, summer nights.

While being pleased with the two moisturizers, this was more of a letdown for me. I think the concept of this matches very well with the whole city life theme. It’s a gel-based mask you apply and rinse off after 1 minute. It’s supposed to tighten the pores, reduce the risk for blemishes and removes excess oils. It’s suitable for everyday use as well. It comes in a plastic tube, which contains 75 ml, that lets you dispense the product easily. I apply the mask on clean, dry skin and spread it on my skin. I let it sit for 30 seconds, and already by then I can feel a warm sensation. It has this self-heating effect and I like to gently rub the mask onto my skin. I don’t have a problem leaving it on for 5 minutes, but on lazy or quick days I rinse it off after 1 minute. It’s easy to rinse off and my skin feels soft and smooth afterwards. But the reason why it was a letdown, was that I didn’t notice much of a visible difference. Yes, it leaves my skin soft, but so does most of my other masks. I guess what I’m trying to say is, that I noticed softer skin, but it didn’t wow me.
